Belize Wi Redi says “It’s time!” as campaign unveils new Belmopan billboard

Billboard Installed in Belmopan City –
November 14 2024 – The Belize Wi Redi campaign has installed a billboard at the junction of Constitution Drive/South Ring Road in Belmopan City, as part of its initiative to bring the campaign’s message of “It’s time!” to an even wider audience.

The campaign was officially launched this year at the end of June with the aim of re-introducing to the political agenda a proposal for an Equal Opportunities Bill (EOB) that will benefit all Belizeans through the protection of 21 different personal characteristics. Belize Wi Redi is about re-starting the public and political conversation to secure this comprehensive equality legislation that will enhance equality of opportunity and respect for all of us.

The Belize Network of NGOs (BNN), a Belizean-based non-governmental organization, is supporting the campaign and is well placed to do so with its broad membership covering a range of societal issues. The BNN as an organization seeks to promote good governance to achieve sustainable human development through advocacy, open and effective communication, and active participation in reforming our system of governance.

Belizeans are Ready –
“Belizeans are ready for, and call for a law, that offers protection to everyone,” says Dr Elma Kay, Chair of the BNN. “Progressive attitudes prevail in Belize, and it is time not just to talk about how we treat one another with respect, but to go one step further and make sure that the values of inclusivity, tolerance and kindness become enshrined in law through the passing of this bill,” Dr Kay went on to say.

Spot the Billboard! –
The billboard will be in place for several months and so please look out for it as you travel through the city. We would also love to receive any photos of you with the billboard, or a short video, suitable for social media, that says very briefly why you support the campaign.

But please take any photos or videos of the billboard safely. If you are travelling by car, please do not stop on the road. Find a safe place to park close by and walk to the billboard for your photo or video moment.

Send any photo and video suggestions to: admin@belizengos.org, or alternatively, post them directly on our accounts below.  We’re excited to see you and our billboard “in the wild!”
