What has Changed Since 2020?

Following public consultations, the EOB has been amended to incorporate the feedback received from the public and key stakeholders. What are some of the ways in which the Bill has changed?

  • Religious freedom has been strengthened
  • “Irrelevant criminal record” has been added as a protected characteristic
  • Criminal offences for breaches of equality provisions have been removed
  • A greater emphasis on alternative dispute resolution and conciliation of complaints
  • A full right of appeal to the courts from the Tribunal
